Rules-by-Area

Many CAD/CAE printed circuit board design tools provide design rules to manage the design. However not all tools provide the ability to change the rules for different areas of the board.

Rules-by-Area in CADSTAR allow different areas of the PCB to be setup to enforce different sets of rules. This function is absolutely necessary in designs that process multiple technologies and different clearance rules, and manufacturing rules etc. because modern printed circuit board designs may employ large and small, low voltage and high voltage components all on the same physical board.
